Stelle Community Association Tree Maintenance Policy

Yes, we do have occasional wind damage in Stelle. It pays to think about what and where we plant our trees.

Yes, we do have occasional wind damage in Stelle. It pays to think about what and where we plant our trees.

The purpose of the Tree Maintenance Policy is to encourage well-maintained and attractive appearance of trees and landscaping in the public areas and right-of-way along the streets and sidewalks in our community.

The Administration and Common Grounds (ACG) committee will maintain any trees planted by the village.  If a homeowner wishes to plant trees/bushes on the right-of-way, which extends 33 feet from the center of the street, the homeowner will submit a request to the ACG for approval.  It will be the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain the plantings in good condition and to trim/remove the trees/bushes if they become diseased or die.  Trees/bushes that were planted by the current homeowners prior to the date of this policy will also be the responsibility of the homeowner.  It is also the homeowner’s responsibility to mow the grass on the right-of-way in front of their house.  If the homeowner does not maintain the trees/bushes/grass on the right-of-way in good condition, the ACG committee will send a notice to the homeowner requesting that they arrange to have the work done.  The homeowner will be given 90 days to have the maintenance completed.  After 90 days, the ACG will arrange to have the work done and bill the homeowner.  The ACG will use SCA collection procedures if the bill is not paid in a timely manner.

All future owners of the property will be required to maintain the trees/bushes that were planted by the current owners as of the date of this policy.

The Stelle Community Association will be responsible for trees/bushes that were planted by prior homeowners as of the date of this policy.

Trees planted on private property are not affected by this policy although the ACG encourages homeowners to keep their trees/bushes/grass in good condition to help keep our community looking its best.
